India’s football superstar Sunil Chhetri has shared insights on Virat Kohli's fitness dedication, revealing that the batting legend sent him the scores of one of his fitness tests a few days back.
Chhetri added that it was addictive to engage in such a conversation and it is good to know such people who are so focused on fitness.
Chhetri is glad to be bracketed with athletes like Kohli, lauding the cricketer’s ability to keep performing at the highest level.
Recently, a report published in Dainik Jagran claimed that Kohli had given his fitness test in London, while many of his teammates had gone through the assessment at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
“A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’," Chhetri said while speaking on The Desi PL Podcast.
“When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or Ronaldo and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable," he added.
The ace Indian footballer and Kohli are known to be good friends and Chhetri has caught up with the latter in the past when he was in Bengaluru to play in IPL 2025.
Chhetri also highlighted the one common characteristic of both Kohli and Ronaldo. He reckoned that both athletes seemed to have the ability to move on from good days and bad days.
“I don’t know personally (Cristiano) Ronaldo. I have watched him, studied him. I know Virat (Kohli). The one common thing about these two is that they are just not happy with what they have already achieved," Chhetri said.
“I tried in my whatever way to inculcate the same thing because once when you start getting into that circle where you start thinking about what you have done, good or bad, then you are not on the same track that you want to be," he remarked.
Having retired from T20Is after India’s 2024 World Cup win and from Tests before the England tour earlier this year, ODIs remain Virat Kohli’s only international commitment. He will be next seen in action during India’s white-ball tour of Australia next month.
