Haider Ali, a Pakistani batter, has been cleared of suspected rape allegations in the UK after Greater Manchester Police found insufficient evidence to continue the case. According to Geo News, the police and the Crown Prosecution Service have closed the case, which comes as a huge relief to Haider.
The 24-year-old, who was arrested by police last month after a British-Pakistani lady alleged the singer raped her at a Manchester hotel, will now be permitted to travel again. It was then reported that Haider was granted bail on August 8 pending additional investigations.
"After receiving a report on Monday, 4 August 2025 of a rape, we have arrested a 24-year-old man. It's alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 23 July 2025 at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries. The victim is being supported by officers," a statement from Greater Manchester Police confirmed to ESPNcricinfo.
ESPNCricinfo also reported that Haider Ali was arrested in Beckenham, where the Shaheens were playing the final game of their five-game tour. The first two were held on July 22 and 25, respectively, and the event for which he is being arrested is said to have occurred on July 23 in Manchester. In the United Kingdom, the maximum term for this offence is life imprisonment.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement confirming Haider's criminal inquiry in the UK. The PCB also provisionally suspended him until the outcome of the investigation, stating that it respected the British judicial system and understood the significance of allowing the investigation to proceed without interference.
