N Srinivasan, former BCCI and ICC president, has returned to cricket administration after a long hiatus. As per reports, Srinivasan has been named chairman of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), the organization that owns the Chennai Super Kings franchise.

More than fifteen years after he was the driving factor behind the team's formation, this development confirms his official leadership position inside the organization. In February of this year, Srinivasan and his daughter, Rupa Gurunath, became the first members of the CSKCL board.

According to the company's 2025 annual report, which was released on Tuesday, Srinivasan succeeded his cousin R. Srinivasan as chairman in May. Rupa was appointed full-time director only a week ago, according to the article, which also verified a recent appointment.

This corporate reorganization comes after India Cements sold its cement division to UltraTech Cement over a year ago. The CSK franchise was once founded and owned by India Cements.

N Srinivasan had enormous influence as the BCCI president starting in 2011, but he was forced to resign amid the 2013 IPL spot-fixing incident, which also resulted in CSK's two-year suspension. He went on to become the first-ever chairman of the ICC in 2014, but conflict-of-interest decisions in 2015 ended his term.

Even though Srinivasan's deteriorating health has made him less of a strongman than he once was, his return as boss may be considered as a positive development. In the future, Rupa and KS Viswanathan, the MD and CEO of CSKCL, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the franchise.
