India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi spoke animatedly about hitting Jasprit Bumrah for a six in the recent IPL 2025 encounter. The incident had happened when Bishnoi’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Bumrah’s Mumbai Indians (MI) clashed on April 27.
The LSG spinner could not help but celebrate his unique accomplishment against the in-form MI pace spearhead, even though they were in a very difficult situation during their 216-run chase.
Given Bumrah's devastating spell, the event, which occurred on the last ball of the 18th over of LSG's innings, was even more memorable for Bishnoi. With the ball, Bumrah had already caused havoc, taking four wickets, three of which came in his last over.
Bishnoi pounded the air in joy after hitting the last ball of Bumrah's spell for a six. This gesture even made Bumrah and the discouraged LSG dugout smile.
Recounting the moment on a podcast, Bishnoi said that he enjoyed hitting Bumrah for a six and also stated that he wouldn’t be able to do it again if he planned it.
"I just swung, and it connected. I'll never be able to hit it again, so that's why I enjoyed it so much. If you manage to hit Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah), it is a big thing for a batter. That's why I really enjoyed it. There is no other bowler like him, so for me it felt like a moral victory that I managed to hit him," Bishnoi said on the Game Changers podcast.
“There is no doubt about his class as a bowler; we all know that. We have all seen it, and if he is in your team, half the match is already won. The opposition almost gives up beforehand because you know how difficult it is to face Jasprit Bumrah. It is so tough. That's why I smiled and celebrated when I hit him for a six. I could not believe it myself," Bishnoi added.
However, Ravi Bishnoi failed to make the cut for the Indian team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, while Jasprit Bumrah will feature for India in the tournament that begins on September 9 in the UAE.
