After receiving huge backlash from fans about not broadcasting the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2025 matches, the BCCI has confirmed that the final of the tournament will be shown on live TV.
The ongoing quarterfinals of the Duleep Trophy being played at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru are not being shown on TV or livestreamed by the BCCI. This led to cricket fans bombarding the BCCI on social media with scathing criticism for devaluing their own domestic cricket tournament, which kickstarted the 2025-26 domestic season.
However, under fire on social media from fans, the BCCI has confirmed that the final of the Duleep Trophy will be shown on TV live. The summit clash will be played from Sept 11-15 at the BCCI’s CEG Ground in CoE.
"There will be a live telecast of the final of the Duleep Trophy. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure live telecasts of 100 days of domestic cricket, which means that all our domestic tournaments are covered live. The BCCI gives utmost importance to domestic cricket, which is why you will see that almost all the Indian players are in action in these matches," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Times of India on Sunday.
The Duleep Trophy 2025 kicked off with two quarterfinal matches being played simultaneously from Thursday, with North Zone playing against East Zone, while Central Zone took on NortheastZone.
Additionally, the BCCI will test its "serious substitution rule" for the first time at the competition. The fans have been denied the opportunity to see some outstanding individual performances by Auqib Nabi (five for 28, including four wickets in four balls), Jharkhand left-arm spinner Manishi (six for 111 in 22.2 overs), Ankit Kumar (198), Yash Dhull (133), and Ayush Badoni (150 not out).
Also, performances like Danish Malewar (203), Rajat Patidar (125 & 66), Shubham Sharma (122), and Yash Rathod (87 not out & 78) went unseen by fans. Mohammad Shami also made his return to action.
