Rahul Dravid, the legendary former cricket player and head coach of India, recounted a moment from his career and expressed remorse, saying he wished he had defied Sachin Tendulkar's advice.

Speaking on R Ashwin's YouTube channel, Dravid said that one of his regrets is not using the Decision Review System (DRS), which was offered to him during India's disastrous 2011 tour of England. Dravid had even received advice from Tendulkar not to utilize the DRS. Replays later revealed, though, that Dravid was in fact not out.

"There was one time when I regretted not using the DRS. It was during the 2011 tour in England, in the Edgbaston Test. I drove Jimmy Anderson, and I heard a noise, like a 'tuk,' but I didn't feel anything on the bat. Sometimes, as a batsman, you know it; you feel it. There was a loud noise, but I didn't feel anything on the bat,” Dravid recalled in conversation with Ashwin on YouTube.

Australian umpire Simon Taufel gave out Dravid caught behind, and after speaking with Tendulkar at the other end, Dravid chose not to contest the call. The call turned out to be incorrect.

"There was a noise, and Simon Taufel was a respected and good umpire. You didn't really challenge him too much when he gave you decisions. He gave me out, and I walked to Sachin and said that I didn't feel anything.

Sachin said, 'There was a big noise, yaar Rahul. I am sure you smashed it.' And I thought maybe yeah, it was one of those things because I heard the noise as well," Dravid said.

When Dravid got back to the dressing room and watched the replays, he saw that the ball had missed the bat entirely and that the bat had actually struck his shoelace, which was what had made the noise. In a series that the squad will never forget, Dravid was perhaps India's best player.

“First thing I walked into the dressing room I said just show me the replay. Initially they showed the replay then the commentators picked up it was that shoelace, the hard part that hit the bat and created the noise, and the ball didn’t touch the bat at all,” a laughing Dravid told Ashwin.

India lost the Test series 0-4 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and also lost their no. 1 spot in Test cricket rankings. However, Rahul Dravid starred with 461 runs in four Tests with three centuries at an average of 76.83 and a best score of 146*.
