The Asia Cup 2025 schedule has reportedly been set, and a significant update about the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match has surfaced.  A decision is anticipated in the upcoming week; however, an official confirmation is still awaited.

The six-nation tournament is scheduled to start in the second week of September, and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) intends to make the schedule public in early July.  

Cricbuzz reports that the commencement date has been tentatively set for September 10. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the United Arab Emirates will all have teams competing. According to reports, the tournament's promotion has already started.

Despite ongoing discussions around hosting the competition in a hybrid format, the United Arab Emirates remains the most probable venue. Although India is the designated host for this edition, the ACC had earlier decided that matches involving India or Pakistan would be held at a neutral location for practical reasons.

This follows increased tensions between the two nations, particularly after the April terror attack in Pahalgam and India's subsequent Operation Sindoor in May. These developments cast uncertainty over the tournament's future.

Additionally, there have been increasing calls in India to boycott Pakistan in multilateral gatherings; according to reports, India may have previously refrained from directly competing against Pakistan in international tournaments.  

Cricket matches between the two teams, particularly at international games, are nevertheless very profitable despite the political tension.  These high-profile matches are important sources of income for both Indian cricket and international sport.

While India and the BCCI are less financially dependent on these encounters, the ICC and ACC, whose member boards rely largely on the commercial success of these matches.
