Father of India's great Yuvraj Singh, and former India cricketer himself, Yograj Singh, has made a veiled dig at MS Dhoni. Since Yuvraj Singh was removed from the Indian squad while Dhoni was captain, Yograj has been a vocal opponent of the former.

Under Dhoni, Yuvraj was a consistent member of the Indian team, especially in white-ball formats, but once he returned from cancer recovery, his appearances became less frequent.

In an interview, Yograj discussed the Ganguly-era Indian team's "brotherly" mentality and claimed that "one man" was the reason it changed. Yograj did not specifically identify the individual, but the indications pointed to Dhoni.

“(We had) Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble, and others. Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh), Yuvi (Yuvraj), Viru (Virender Sehwag), (Mohammed) Kaif, Zaheer (Khan) among youngsters. Combination of elder and younger brothers. That's why they could lead the youngsters and become the greatest of all time. And what did we? We burned out the whole house by just standing for one person. I won't name him. Where is he? See what happened,” said Yograj to InsideSport.

“When you give love, you get people like Sachin, Yuvi, Gambhir, Viru. They will never go down the drain. They will always be stars,” he added.

Yograj's criticism of India's leadership following the Ganguly era is not new. He had previously accused the selectors in the same exchange of suddenly cutting off some of the nation's best match-winners following the 2011 ODI World Cup victory.

Yograj noted how a number of the game's mainstays were not given a fitting farewell, and their departures were handled with neither dignity nor responsibility.

You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason. Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. You just made them go after 2011,” Yograj Singh said.

Several names apart from Mohammad Kaif were gradually removed from the Indian squad within 18 months of India’s 2011 World Cup win.
