On Sunday, June 8, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh will get engaged to Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Priya Saroj. A hotel in Lucknow will host the ring ceremony. After competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were eliminated from the playoffs, Rinku will begin a new chapter in his life.

Rinku amassed 206 runs with a strike-rate of 153.73 and an average of 29.42 in 13 games, with a high score of 153.73. Thanks to victories in five of their fourteen games, the Knight Riders finished eighth in the standings with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.305.

Tufani Saroj - the SP MLA from Kerakat and father of Priya Saroj- had revealed back in January that the two families had "meaningful discussions" about a potential marriage between their children.

Tufani also mentioned that Priya was introduced to Rinku through a mutual friend, whose father is also a cricketer.

"Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other, but needed their families' consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage," he said as per India Today.

Priya Saroj hails from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi and has been an involved member of the Samajwadi Party (SP) for several years. In 2024, she was elected to the Lok Sabha, representing the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district.

Priya, a former Supreme Court attorney, initially gained notoriety during her father's 2022 campaign for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. She graduated with a law degree from Amity University in Noida and an arts degree from the University.

Rinku Singh has played two ODIs and 33 T20Is for India, scoring 601 runs, including three half-centuries and a top score of 69.
