The remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) including the playoffs stage will be played without the Decision Review System (DRS) and Hawkeye technologies. Majority of the crew handling these things have not returned to Pakistan following the recent conflict with India on the borders.
Following India's missile attacks on Pakistani terror facilities, the PSL was put on indefinite hold. This happened as a result of the April 22 terrorist attacks in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, which saw 26 lives taken by terrorists. Indian drones hit the Rawalpindi cricket stadium as well, leading to the PCB suspending the league.
The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) rejected the PCB's attempt to host the remaining PSL games in the United Arab Emirates. After the PSL resumed after the war with India, the PCB is still having trouble finishing the tenth edition.
The staff that oversees and operates the Hawkeye and DRS equipment has not returned to Pakistan for the duration of the competition, according to a trustworthy source close to a franchise.
"Which means that the last few remaining matches of the PSL will now be completed without any DRS, which is a big blow to the board and teams," the source said as per PTI.
According to the source, since the broadcaster was primarily made up of Indian nationals, there would not be any DRS available. He claimed that because of the difficult situation, the Indian nationals employed by the broadcaster had gone for their homes after the league was suspended because of the conflict and had not returned.
The teams have also had to replace foreign players, such as Mitchell Owens and Kusal Mendis, who chose to leave for the IPL.
On Thursday, the Islamabad United side, which has to play in the eliminator 2 on Friday, suffered a big blow as their opener, England's Alex Hales, also flew back home.
