Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Punjab Kings, went to X on Tuesday to chastise a troll who made fun of her by claiming that she didn't marry Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, which is why he doesn't play well for the Mohali-based team in the IPL.
Maxwell has participated in seventy-two IPL games for the Punjab Kings, scoring 1342 runs and claiming 17 wickets. In the IPL 2025 mega auction, the Mohali-based team paid Rs 4.20 crore to recruit him.
Maxwell participated in seven IPL 2025 games for the team captained by Shreyas Iyer, scoring 48 runs and claiming four wickets. Due to an injury, the former MI, DC, and RCB player was forced out of the 2025 Indian Premier League a few weeks ago. Mitchell Owen, an uncapped Australian batsman, took his place.
During a Q&A session on X (formerly Twitter), a fan made a very weird statement to Zinta concerning Glenn Maxwell. In a now deleted post, the fan stated: “Mam Maxwell ki aapse shadi ni Hui isiliye vo aapko team se accha ni khelta tha?"
To which Zinta took extreme offense and lectured the fan on respecting women and also asked him to respect her. Zinta stated that all the fame and name she had made, it is her own doing and worked hard for the past 18 years for the same.
“Will you ask this question to the male team owners of all teams, or is this discrimination just towards the women? I never knew how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I got into cricket. I’m sure you asked this question out of humour, but I hope you can actually look at your question and understand what you are trying to say because if you really understand what you’re trying to say, it’s not pretty ! I think I have earned my stripes by working very hard for the past 18 years so please give me the respect I deserve & stop with the gender bias. Thank you,” Zinta posted.
