Yashasvi Jaiswal, talented India opener, who had opted to move from Mumbai to Goa in domestic cricket, has made a U-turn, despite asking the MCA for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the switch.
The 23-year-old has now written an email to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to withdraw his NOC and said he is available to represent Mumbai for the next domestic season.
“I the undersigned would request your good self to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which for now has been curtailed ! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season ! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote in email to MCA, assessed by The Indian Express.
MCA is yet to decide on Jaiswal’s request.
When Jaiswal requested a NOC to relocate to Goa in April, MCA authorities were caught off guard. Jaiswal has given personal explanations for his base change. Goa had advanced to the Ranji Trophy knockout stage.
Jaiswal would have followed in the footsteps of Mumbai players of this generation who have represented Goa, like as Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, if he had carried out his plan to represent the state.
Jaiswal had stated that Goa offered him a leadership role in the team and that was the reason he opted to switch.
“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India, and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” Jaiswal had told The Indian Express.
Jaiswal is recently playing for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, where he has scored 306 runs in 12 matches with 5 fifties at a strike rate of 154.57 and a highest score of 75.
