Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie had recently stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to clear his remaining dues. Gillespie regarded the situation as upsetting and stated that he had yet to be rewarded for his efforts with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Jason Gillespie took over as coach of the Pakistan Test side in April 2024, however, he stepped down in December.
The management's actions, which were taken without his knowledge, disappointed him. Following the departure of World Cup-winning coach and South African cricketer Gary Kirsten, Gillespie took over leadership of the white-ball team.
Gillespie thought that his role had been limited to that of a "match day strategist" during his stay because he was not on the selection panel and had no input in the team's starting lineup.
Gillespie quit after the Pakistan Cricket Board chose not to extend assistant coach Tim Nielsen's contract without telling him, even though he was eager to continue in this diminished role.
"I'm still waiting on some remuneration from work that's being done. So I'll just navigate through that in due course. Admittedly, that's been a little bit disappointing, but hopefully that can get sorted sooner rather than later. But yeah, we'll learn. But yeah, as I said, hopefully that'll get sorted as soon as possible," Gillespie said on the Pak Passion YouTube channel.
However, now the PCB have refuted claims of Gillespie of unpaid due and stated that Gillespie himself had ‘abruptly’ terminated his contract.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues. The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four-month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms. The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it,” PCB stated in an official statement.
Pakistan team has been working with an interim head coach Aaqib Javed, but have recently put out advert for a new head coach position.
