Former India and Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer Harbhajan Singh has admitted that he was wrong in slapping Sreesanth during a match between MI and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) during an IPL 2008 match, in what was the first big controversy in the Indian Premier League.  

The match was played in Mohali and Harbhajan Singh was captaining MI in absence of Sachin Tendulkar. Sreesanth, who plays for Punjab, put in a strong effort in his team's triumph over Mumbai. As the players were leaving the field, Mumbai's stand-in captain, Harbhajan, smacked Sreesanth.

The fast bowler was later seen on live television in tears and being consoled by his colleagues. The specific reason for the brawl is unknown, however, rumors indicate that Sreesanth provoked Harbhajan with some on-field remarks.

The incident resulted in terrible consequences. Harbhajan was immediately suspended for the remainder of the IPL season and later given an 11-match sentence. He was found guilty of wrongdoing during a disciplinary hearing, and his match fees were forfeited as well.

While both players later reconciled, with Harbhajan apologizing, including in his most recent social media post, the dispute has remained a talking point in IPL history.

Recently, Harbhajan Singh shared the winning moments of Sheffield Shield final on social media platform X and exclaimed “Amazing Scenes”.

However, a fan trying to get a rouse of Harbhajan, posted a video of Sreesanth crying and Punjab players consoling him and asked about what about this.

Harbhajan Singh was annoyed at this and mentioned that he has admitted that he made a mistake and that he was human and not god.

“This wasn’t right,t bhai. It was my mistake . Shouldn’t hv done this . But Galti hui Insaan hu ???? ????Bhagwaan nahi,” Harbhajan Singh said.
