Legendary Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram replied to the taunts of former India cricketer Yograj Singh. Yograj, in an interview, had slammed former Pakistan cricketers like Akram, Waqar Younis, etc for not helping Pakistan cricket improve.

Yograj stated that it would take only one year to get the Pakistan team on track, if he was made the coach of the team, after their humiliating exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament, which they are also hosting.

The team failed to win even a single match – losing to New Zealand and India and enduring a washout against Bangladesh to finish with one point.

Akram, who has been outspoken in his criticism of Pakistan's team performance, has delivered one gem after another. But when his insult of 'itne kele toh bandar nahi khaate' surfaced, Yograj lectured him on it, adding greats like him and Shoaib Akhtar should be 'ashamed of themselves' for saying such things instead of supporting the players.

Akram's reaction did not specifically target Yograj, but rather addressed all of those who had attacked him. He also mentioned that he has seen how Waqar Younis was treated when he was Pakistan coach a couple of times and he doesn’t want to experience the same.

Akram brought Waqar Younis, his fellow panelist, and his term into the discussion. Waqar, one of the world's greatest fast bowlers of all time, let alone in Pakistan, served as the national team's coach three times: once as bowling coach in 2006 and twice as head coach in 2010 and 2016, only to be removed of his duties in both cases.

"People still on and off either criticize me or have a go at me that all he does is talk and nothing else. When I see Pakistan coaches – I see Waqar here, who has been sacked quite a few times after becoming a coach – and their condition. Aap log badtameezi karte hain (You guys disrespect them), I cannot tolerate it," Akram said in the DP World Dressing Room show on Ten Sports.

Several Pakistani greats, like Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf, have turned down offers to join Pakistan's coaching staff. Misbah-ul-Haq took over as Pakistan's coach but resigned soon after. Even foreign coaches have been ineffective, as Gary Kirsten and Mickey Arthur are prime examples. And Akram's thesis explains why that is.

Akram may not be willing to take on an official position, but the best left-arm pacer has maintained that he is always willing to assist and spend time with players, and he will do so for free.

"I want to help Pakistan cricket. Why do you want to pay me. I am available free of cost. If you organize a camp and want me to be there, I will. If you want me to spend time with cricketers ahead of a big tournament, I will do that. But I am 58 years old and at this age, I am not going to take such insults which you guys do. I cannot lead a stressful life at this age," he said.
