Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has expressed his wish to see the legendary MS Dhoni play ‘thoda aur’ (little more) cricket in the coming years.
Dhoni continues to hogged the limelight despite having retired from international cricket, with many speculating about his possible retirement from the professional sport sooner rather than later.
But Samson, like majority of the Indian cricket fans, wants to see Dhoni stay in the game as long as possible.
“I was thinking in my mind and when people keep talking about ‘when is he retiring?’ In my head, I was thinking ‘Thoda aur bhi hai’. That’s the example that I had in mind. Everyone here I think if you ask them the same question, I think the Indian mentality is to get ‘thoda aur,’" Samson said at an event, where Dhoni was also present.
MS Dhoni’s achievement as a cricketer is surreal, to say the least. Coming from a small town of Ranchi, the 43-year-old has etched his name in the history books as one of the finest captains.
Dhoni is the only skipper in the history of cricket to have won all three ICC white-ball trophies – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. He also led Team India to the No. 1 rankings in Test cricket.
While Dhoni called time on his international career in 2020, he continues to feature in the Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings.
CSK splashed INR 4 crore retain the services of Dhoni ahead of the mega-auction last November. He will feature in the IPL 2025 season as an uncapped player.
