Widely regarded as one of the finest batters of the modern era, Virat Kohli enjoys a massive fan following across the globe.
On Friday (February 14), the cricket fraternity once again got a glimpse of Kohli’s craze outside of India as a video of Pakistan fans chanting the Indian star’s name went viral on social media.
Apart from “Kohli! Kohli!”, a sea of Men in Green followers also shouted “RCB! RCB!” while playfully ditching their own “King” Babar Azam in a unique display of cross-border cricketing admiration.
In the video, a young fan was spotted donning the RCB jersey. One supporter was heard saying, “Mai hu Virat Kohli!” while another stated, “Mai Pakistan se hu magar Virat Kohli ko support karta hu.”
The Pakistani fans openly supported Kohli outside the National Stadium in Karachi after Babar’s failure in the ODI tri-series final against New Zealand. The Pakistan batter managed to return with scores of 10, 23 and 29 in the triangular series, also featuring South Africa.
Here’s the video:
Unlike Babar Azam, Virat Kohli always seems to reserve his best for the big stage, especially against the Pakistan cricket team. While the Indian stalwart is yet to play a Test match against the arch-rivals, he boasts a fabulous record in the white-ball formats.
Kohli has played 16 ODIs against Pakistan so far, amassing 678 runs at an average of 52.15 and a strike rate of 100.29 with three hundreds and two half-centuries.
In T20Is, Virat’s domination against Pakistan goes to a different level altogether. He has scored 492 runs in 10 games at an average of 70.28 and a strike rate of 123.92 with five fifties.
With India and Pakistan set to square off in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai on February 23, expectations will be on Kohli’s shoulders to deliver for his team once again.
