Manoj Tiwary had recently slammed Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir on how the credit of winning the 2012 Indian Premier League went to him, as he captained the side in that tournament.  He also called Gautam Gambhir ‘hypocrite.

Gambhir’s captaincy didn’t guide KKR to the title single-handedly. We all performed as a unit. Jacques Kallis, Manvinder Bisla, and I performed with the bat and Sunil Narine bowled exceptionally well. That is why we won the 1st IPL title. Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He doesn’t do what he says,” Manoj Tiwary had said in an interview.

Former India player Aakash Chopra has responded to Manoj Tiwary's recent criticism of head coach Gautam Gambhir. He used MS Dhoni's example to demonstrate that credit should be given automatically and not asked.

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, 'Aakash Chopra,' the former India opener used Dhoni as an example to demonstrate that fair credit is given when you don't seek it.

"Tiwary ji called him (Gambhir) a hypocrite and said he doesn't do what he says, and why the credit is given to him, it should be given to everyone. There used to be an old couplet - 'Bin maange moti mile maange mile na chun' which means you get pearls without asking and not even quicklime if you ask.

People should give credit, asking for it just doesn't work in my opinion. The biggest example of that is MS Dhoni. He doesn't say anything, stands at the side, and hands the trophy to someone. When he won the World Cup, he put paaji (Sachin Tendulkar) at the forefront. We all give him the credit. He doesn't go and ask for it," Chopra said.

Manoj Tiwary took to social media and responded to Aakash Chopra.

You (Chopra) also spoke about the credit thing where you gave the example of MS Dhoni that he does not demand credit. You earn credit and appreciation. I do not have any intention to go and take credit,” Tiwary responded to Chopra.

There is no such intention to tell things that when KKR won the first title I did not get credit etc. I have made a lot of place in people’s hearts and when we won the IPL for the first time there was a massive rally in Kolkata where people gave a lot of love,” Tiwary concluded.
