Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft's nasty collision | GettyA nasty collision unfolded during the 22nd match of the Big Bash League (BBL) between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers at the Perth Stadium on Friday (January 3). The two players involved in it were Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft.

The collision took place when Bancroft and Sams ran towards each other while tracking a skier in the 16th over of the first innings.

While Sams was stretchered off, Bancroft left the field with a bloody nose. The unfortunate incident resulted in the game getting stopped for 12 minutes, with Perth Scorchers' score reading 138/4.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sams had gathered the ball while running backwards, but Bancroft came in from the other end, and the catch was ultimately spilled.

Both players were substituted during Perth Scorchers’ innings. In an official statement, Sydney Thunder said, "Sydney Thunder's Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams have been substituted for tonight's BBL14 match against Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium."

"Both players are conscious and talking, demonstrating symptoms of concussion and have possible fractures. Both have been transported to the hospital for assessment. Ollie Davies and Hugh Weighbenm have been substituted into the Thunder team," the statement added.

When the Sydney Thunder innings started, the commentators provided a positive update on the two players.

"They're both conscious and talking," a female commentator was heard saying on-air.

Coming to the match, Sydney Thunder registered a thrilling four-wicket victory over Perth Scorchers. Chasing 178 to win, they overhauled the target on the final delivery. While David Warner was the top scorer with 33-ball 49, Matthew Gilkes (43 off 36) and Sherfane Rutherford (39* off 19) also returned with handy contributions.
