The year 2024 proved to be bittersweet for the Indian team. India started well by defeating England 4-1 in the Test series at home and went on to have a good time till their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 win in the Caribbean.

Then Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended, Gautam Gambhir took over, and things went south from there.

ODI series loss against Sri Lanka and the home test series loss against New Zealand are two of the major lows in Indian men's cricket. In Tests, India registered eight wins, six losses, and a draw in 15 matches in 2024.

India played just one ODI series in 2024, and they lost the three-match series against Sri Lanka.

At the moment, the Indian team trails 1-2 in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test series and ended their year 2024 with an 184-run loss in Melbourne to Australia.

But the Indian team will hope for a better year in 2025 as they have multiple exciting series lined up both at home and away.

The year 2025 begins forthe  Indian team with the last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Rohit Sharma and Co. needs to win this match to remain in contention for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. A loss or draw would knock them out.

After the Sydney Test, England will come knocking at the Indian doors for five T20Is and three ODIs, India’s last white-ball fixtures before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India will play their matches in Dubai and they will start their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh. If they qualify for the WTC 2025 cycle, they will play the final at Lords in June.  After that, a five-Test series in England will begin India’s fourth World Test Championship cycle.

India will then travel to Bangladesh for a white-ball tour for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is in August, which will be followed by two Tests against the West Indies in October.  India will then host the Asia Cup 2025 tournament in October and November with Pakistan playing its matches at a neutral venue.

India will again go back to Australia, this time for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is matches, and end their year 2025 with a series at home against South Africa. The two sides will play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is.
