A new video going viral on social media purports to show former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli in a fragile state, unable to stand as his childhood friend and legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar went to meet him.
In the clip, Tendulkar was seen walking up to frail looking Kambli at the unveiling ceremony of memorial for revered cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar in Mumbai. However, Kambli couldn’t stand up on his feet as he hugged Tendulkar while sitting at his place.
While Sachin made his debut in November 1989 against Pakistan, Kambli donned the Indian jersey for the first time in 1991 in an ODI game at Sharjah.
Overall, Kambli represented India in 104 ODI matches, amassing 2477 runs at 32.59 with 14 fifties and two centuries. He also played 17 Test matches, scoring 1084 runs at 54.20 with four tons and three fifties.
Sachin Tendulkar retired in 2013 as a legend, scoring over 34,000 international runs with 100 international centuries in 200 Tests and 463 ODIs.
