Alzarri Joseph handed two-match ban for leaving the field angrily during 3rd ODI against England

Joseph had walked off the field after a spat with skipper Sai Hope.

Alzarri Joseph | XCricket West Indies (CWI) has imposed a two-match ban on speedster Alzarri Joseph for an on-field incident during his team’s eight-wicket victory over England in the third ODI in Barbados on Wednesday (November 6).

Joseph left the field at the completion of the fourth over of the match following a disagreement about a field placement with skipper Shai Hope. The hosts had 10 players on the park for an entire over as the pacer followed the action from the sidelines.

While Joseph returned to the field and picked up two crucial wickets, the incident was found to have 'fallen short of Cricket West Indies standards of professionalism'.

CWI released a statement on Thursday confirming the two-match ban for Joseph, with Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe stating the incident did not fall in line with team values.

"Alzarri's behaviour did not align with the core values that Cricket West Indies upholds," Bascombe said.

"Such conduct cannot be overlooked, and we have taken decisive action to ensure the gravity of the situation is fully acknowledged."

Joseph also regretted his act and apologized for the incident. "I recognise that my passion got the best of me," Joseph said.

"I have personally apologised to captain Shai Hope and my teammates and management. I also extend my sincerest apologies to the West Indies fans - I understand that even a brief lapse in judgment can have a far-reaching impact, and I deeply regret any disappointment caused."

With this victory, West Indies clinched the three-ODI series 2-1. The two teams will now square off in a five-match T20I series, starting on Saturday (November 9) in Barbados.
