Mayank Yadav made his India T20I debut against Bangladesh recently | BCCIMayank Yadav, the India and Delhi pacer, who will miss the four-T20I series between India and South Africa, will reportedly be out of action for the coming 2-3 months after encountering a back injury.

Mayank, who claimed four wickets in India's 3-0 series win over Bangladesh, is expected to be sidelined for several months due to a back problem. Mayank is now visiting the BCCI's newly launched Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

He's back here for another problem, which might keep him out for three months. Mostly it's something related to the back, but there's not much clarity on it. But then, it's also something that is believed to keep him out for a considerable amount of time. The way with which he came here, the first feelers from it are looking at him being out for two to three months initially and maybe, it could be more,” said the source to IANS.

Mayank had previously undergone significant rehab and worked to regain match fitness at the CoE (formerly the NCA) after suffering a lower abdominal strain while playing for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024.

He impressed everyone by consistently bowling over 145 kph and even hit the high 150s regularly. Mayank has faced challenges in his cricketing journey due to injuries in the past.

He missed the IPL 2023 for LSG owing to a torn hamstring incurred during a practice session before the event, and he was forced to miss the entire 2023-24 Ranji Trophy due to another injury, for which he received rehabilitation in Mumbai.

With the IPL retention deadline approaching on October 31, Mayank is a strong contender to be one of the five players retained by LSG, who bought him for INR 20 lakhs in an auction before the 2022 season.
