The International Cricket Council (ICC) is exploring option to shift the entire Champions Trophy 2025 out of Pakistan, India Today reported.

According to the report, discussions are underway to seek alternative hosting arrangements due to uncertainties surrounding India's participation in Pakistan.

The report further claimed that the ICC is pondering over three potential models for the showpiece tournament.

While Pakistan has the hosting rights, the apex body has sanctioned budgets for the following scenarios:

Entire Tournament in Pakistan: This option would see the Champions Trophy taking place within the territories of Pakistan entirely, maintaining the original plan.

Hybrid Model: In this case, India’s matches in addition to the semi-finals and finals would be staged at a secondary location, likely Dubai.

Completely Moving the Tournament Out of Pakistan: If the tournament is moved entirely, Dubai, Sri Lanka, and South Africa might get to host the event.

Earlier, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla had stated that the final call about India travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy will be taken by the Indian government.

Notably, Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup last year but India played all of their matches in Sri Lanka under a 'hybrid model'.

With little hope of a policy change, the ICC is reportedly focusing on the hybrid model and the possibility of relocating the entire tournament.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will retain the hosting rights, regardless of the location of the competition.

Meanwhile, the PCB has already submitted a draft schedule for the Champions Trophy, set to get underway on February 19, with the final scheduled for March 9. Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi have been designated as the venues for the tournament.

As per the report, a final decision on the Champions Trophy hosting arrangements is expected in November, with further clarity expected after Jay Shah takes charge as the ICC Chairman on December 1.
