Mumbai batter Musheer Khan, who has had a dream start to his first-class career, sustained a fracture in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh, TOI reported.

According to the report, the 19-year-old was travelling with his father-cum-coach Naushad Khan from Kanpur to Lucknow for the Irani Cup tie when the incident took place.

This news came as a big blow to Mumbai as Musheer is now set to miss the Irani Cup fixture against Rest of India (ROI) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from October 1-5. He will also miss the initial rounds of the Ranji Trophy, slated to get underway on October 11.

"He didn't travel with the Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was probably travelling from Azamgarh, with his father, to Lucknow when the accident happened," a source was quoted as saying by TOI.

Earlier this year, Musheer Khan demonstrated his exceptional batting talent by hitting a double hundred in the Ranji quarter-final, followed by a century in the final. His brilliant run of form continued as he slammed an impressive 181 on Duleep Trophy debut for India B against India A at Bengaluru.

In 9 first-class matches so far, Musheer has amassed 716 runs at an average of 51.14, including three hundreds and one half-century.

The teenager, who is the younger brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, was set to be picked for India A's shadow tour of Australia this winter. However, it's now very much doubtful as it remains to be seen how long his recovery would last.
