WATCH: “Pakistan cricket aajkal ICU mein hai,” Rashid Latif pained by national team’s listless display

Pakistan suffered a 2-0 whitewash in the recently held home Test series against Bangladesh.

Pakistan cricket team | GettyPakistan cricket is going through a tumultuous time lately. After a first-round exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, they suffered a humiliating 2-0 whitewash in the recently held home Test series against Bangladesh.

Pakistan’s embarrassing display has sparked strong reactions from their fans and former players, including Rashid Latif.

The constant regime change in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) isn’t helping the cause either, and it prompted Latif to express disappointment.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the former wicketkeeper-batter did not filter his words as he stated, "Pakistan cricket aajkal ICU mein hai. Professional doctor chaiye hoga inhe [Pakistan cricket is currently in the ICU. They will need a professional doctor]."

Rashid Latif also highlighted the need for technically sound professionals to handle the team's affairs, both in terms of physical training and financial management.

"They need technically sound professionals to run things, both physically and financially. Trainers and many other things are required. You can see there are many problems, whether it's on the field or off the field," he remarked.

Pakistan are going to face a tough test against a powerful England team next month. The Three Lions had defeated Pakistan 3-0 the last time they visited for a Test series in 2022.

The Shan Masood-led will have to turn things around against England to have any chance of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s next year.

The three-match Test series is slated to get underway on October 7 in Multan.
