Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh made a surprise selection when he was asked to pick a batter he would like to bat for his life. And leaving aside players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, the 2011 World Cup Player of the Tournament picked current India captain Rohit Sharma.

Rohit, like Tendulkar and Kohli, who are undoubtedly the two greatest batters of all time, has built a name for himself, and he is only behind Sachin, Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly in the list of India's most run scorers in international cricket.

In 265 ODIs, Rohit has 10866 runs with 31 centuries and a best of 264 at an average of 49.16. In 159 T20Is, Rohit made 4231 runs with 5 centuries and the best score of 121* at a strike rate of 140.89. Rohit has excellent numbers in Tests as well, with 4137 runs in 59 Tests with 12 centuries with a best of 212.

Rohit Sharma recently retired from T20Is after leading India to T20 World Cup 2024 win.

During an interview with Sportskeeda, when Yuvraj was asked, “Which cricketer would you pick to bat for your life?” He mentioned Rohit Sharma’s name.

Rohit Sharma made his India T20I debut On September 19, 2007, in the T20 World Cup 2007 match against England took place at Kingsmead in Durban. He did not, however, have a chance to bat in that match, in which Yuvraj made history by hitting six sixes in one over of a T20I.

During the same interview, Yuvraj was asked to choose between Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni as the best captain to play for, and he chose Ganguly over the other two.

“They all have been captains, and I have played with Dhoni and Ganguly for a long time. But I think I started under Ganguly, so I would say Ganguly,” Yuvraj said.

Rohit Sharma was last seen in action during Sri Lanka ODIs and after a month’s break will be seen in action when India takes on Bangladesh in the first of two Tests in Chennai from September 19 onwards.
