A number of cities in Gujarat continue to grapple with a massive flood situation following heavy rainfall. In particular, the low-lying areas were affected after the Vishwamitri River breached its banks.

Indian women’s cricketer Radha Yadav revealed that she was in a “very bad situation” due to the flooding but was rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Radha shared a video on Instagram story, in which the NDRF officials can be seen rescuing some people with a boat while there was a lot of water on the roads.

“We are Stuck in a Very bad situation. Thank you so much #NDRF for rescuing us,” Radha wrote in the caption of the story.

While rescue operations and evacuations are being done, the death toll in rain-related accidents has increased to past in the last three days.

Among the deceased are seven people who went missing after the tractor-trolley they were travelling in was swept away while crossing an overflowing causeway near Dhavana village in Morbi district, news agency PTI reported.

Amid the dire situation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to assess the condition and assured the Centre’s support to the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for rain in 11 districts across Gujarat and a yellow alert for 22 districts on Thursday (August 29).

People stranded in their houses and rooftops in Vadodara city were rescued and relocated to safer places by the NDRF, its state counterpart SDRF and three columns of the Army deployed for the purpose, officials said.
