If Jay Shah decides to file a nomination for the next International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) chief Rohan Jaitley is being seen as the front-runner to replace Shah as the secretary of the BCCI, reports have indicated.

Shah reportedly has the support of 16 out of 15 members of the ICC board and therefore, his election appears a mere formality.

As per Dainik Bhaskar report, Rohan Jaitley, son of late BJP leader Arun Jaitley, is seen as the first-choice candidate to replace Jay Shah as BCCI President.

However, other top BCCI officials including current president Roger Binny among others will continue in their roles since they have another year remaining in their respective terms.

It remains unclear whether Shah is interested in becoming the next ICC chairman. He has yet to file his nomination, and the deadline is August 27. The outgoing ICC chairman, Greg Barclay, recently declared that he will not seek a third term.

ICC Chair Greg Barclay confirmed to the Board that he will not stand for a third term and will step down from the post when his current tenure finishes at the end of November. Barclay was appointed as the Independent ICC Chair in November 2020, before being re-elected in 2022,” the ICC stated in a media release.

Shah, one of the most important figures on the ICC board, also serves on the global cricket governing body's Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) subcommittee.

Previous Indian heads of the ICC include Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. At 35 years old, Shah has the potential to become the world's youngest leader.
