Andrew Flintoff leaves England coaching staff after differences with captain Jos Buttler- Report

Report stated that Buttler gelled well with Marcus Trescothick instead of Flintoff.

Not all is well in the England team dressing room as legendary all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has reportedly discontinued his coaching role in the white-ball setup. The reason given is Flintoff's failure to get along with captain Jos Buttler.

As per the report from the Telegraph, Flintoff failed to "gel with" white-ball skipper Jos Buttler, prompting his departure. Instead, stand-in head coach Marcus Trescothick will have the ability to pick his own backroom staff.

Flintoff, who has been involved in a short-term consultant role, will not be part of England's coaching staff for the next white-ball series against Australia, which comprises three T20Is and five ODIs.

He is expected to move to more substantial coaching opportunities after a successful stint as the head coach of Northern Superchargers in this season's Hundred. Flintoff’s guidance helped the Superchargers win five out of seven matches and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot in the recent Hundred tournament.

Despite Flintoff's efforts, indications indicate that his working relationship with England's white-ball skipper, Jos Buttler, was not as smooth as expected.

While Buttler will continue in his leadership role following the resignation of former head coach Matthew Mott, it appears that Buttler and Marcus Trescothick had a deeper connection.

Trescothick and Buttler have a lengthy history, with the former playing an important role in Buttler's development during their time together at Somerset. Because of their strong relationship, Buttler frequently consults Trescothick on his batting technique.

Trescothick did not dismiss the idea of taking on the head coach role full-time.

I’m looking forward to the opportunity, for sure. I’m really excited about doing the job. We’ll work it out a little bit more from there. It’s not something I ever thought about before until I got this opportunity now. I’m not necessarily thinking any further ahead than the end of the Australia series. I’ve been very much focussed on the job we’re doing here,” Trescothick said on the second day of 1st Test between England and Sri Lanka.
