Piyush Chawla's take on Virat Kohli's nature and attitude is totally different to what fellow leg-spinner Amit Mishra's claimed in the media last month

Speaking on YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra's show, Mishra had said that ‘fame and power’ changed Kohli a lot while India skipper Rohit Sharma remained still the same.

Mishra's comments create a storm and he faced severe backlash from the Kohli fans, with many highlighting his notorious off-field instances.

Mishra, who represented India in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is, had also spoken in details about Kohli's behavioural change towards him after becoming the captain of the Indian team.

On the other hand, Chawla's perspective is entirely different as the leg-spinner believes Virat Kohli is just as how he was 15 years ago. However, he admitted that it may not be the case with everyone else.

"Irrespective of whatever amount of cricket I have played, how much I know him, I have always had a very good experience. We played junior cricket together, then in the IPL and for India together. Everyone has their own mindset. Even today we meet very nicely," Chawla said on the '2 Sloggers' podcast.

Piyush Chawla also opened up about a heart-warming incident from last year's Asia Cup, involving him and Kohli.

"During Asia Cup, he was fielding at the boundary ropes, while I was there for a commentary stint. So, he came to me and said 'PC, Let's order something to eat. 'So, he has the same conversations with us that we used to have 10-15 years ago," he added.

However, Chawla wasn’t critical of Mishra, stating that he respected the latter as his senior in the team.

"The leg-spinner who is in question here, I have learnt a lot from him. He is a senior and the way he has played his cricket and bowled during his career, he has been fantastic. I saw the podcast. It was quite amazing," he remarked.
