Former opener Wasim Jaffer believes that if the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj stays fit, then the India team has a great chance to win another Test series on Australian soil.
Notably, India will tour Australia for five Test matches later this year. The much-awaited series is slated to get underway on November 22 in Perth.
In their last two visits, Team India had deified all odds to clinch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under.
Replying to a fan's query on India's chances during the upcoming tour of Australia, Jaffer highlighted the importance of Bumrah, Shami and Siraj’s fitness.
Moreover, Jaffer mentioned that Arshdeep Singh could bring a left-arm pace option and pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who caught everyone’s attention with his bowling speeds in the IPL 2024 season, could also be a "dark horse" contender if he is fit enough to play the series.
"If Bumrah, Shami and Siraj stay fit and are able to play most of the series, India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick down under. Arshdeep could bring the left-arm option. And Mayank Yadav dark horse provided he's fit and available. #AUSvIND," wrote Jaffer on X.
The second Test will be a day-night affair at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. Subsequently, the two teams will meet in Brisbane, where the third Test will be held from December 14 to 18.
The traditional Boxing Day Test, which is set for December 26-30 at Melbourne's storied Melbourne Cricket Ground, brings the series to a climax.
The fifth and final Test will take place at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney from January 3 to 7.
