The cricket world has been deprived of the fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan because of diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

The arch-rivals haven’t played a bilateral series since 2012. In this period, they've only clashed in multi-nation tournaments such as the World Cup and the Asia Cup.

Considering the political relationship between the two countries, an India versus Pakistan bilateral series does not look anywhere close to the horizon.

Recently, some reports claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put forward proposals to engage in a T20I series against India at a neutral venue.

However, PCB has dismissed such claims, saying that its primary attention is currently directed towards ensuring the seamless execution of the Champions Trophy 2025.

“There is no such proposal on the table or under consideration because right now the biggest challenge for us is to organise the Champions Trophy in a befitting manner and we also have a packed international schedule,” PTI quoted a source as saying.

According to the source, the PCB's primary objectives during the ICC Annual Conference in Colombo were twofold. Firstly, they aimed to secure approval for the Champions Trophy budget. Secondly, they sought guarantees from the ICC and the BCCI regarding India’s participation in the tournament, which is set to take place in Pakistan.

"That is our main agenda right now. So, there is no question of contemplating any bilateral venture with India," the source added.

Rumours are rife that the Men in Blue won't be touring Pakistan for the Champions Trophy as their government won’t allow the team to travel across the border.

It is also reported that the BCCI has requested the ICC to either change the venue for the competition or schedule India's matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka.
