Mishra claimed that Naveen will never have “respect” for Kohli again.

Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli were involved in an ugly spat during the IPL 2023 season | XIndia’s star batter Virat Kohli and Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq’s on-field spat was one of the highlights of the IPL 2023 season.

The duo engaged in a war of words during the RCB versus LSG RCB at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The on-field aggression spilled over to the post-match handshakes as they had another verbal spat.

The altercation created quite a stir in the cricket fraternity and it continues to draw attention even after 14 months.

Recently, veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who also plays for LSG, recently reignited the topic in an interview, claiming that Naveen will never have “respect” for Kohli again.

"For social media, it all seemed to be over between them. But do you think Naveen will respect Kohli ever again? What about the youngsters who saw the incident where a big star was abusing others," Mishra said on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast.

Notably, Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq buried the hatched as they shook hands and shared a hug during the 2023 World Cup match between India and Afghanistan in Delhi.

After Mishra’s comments, Naveen has now addressed the clash with Kohli again, stating that it happened in the “heat of the moment.”

The Afghanistan cricketer also added that the differences between them are now “finished”.

"It was in the heat of the moment. He was representing his franchise, I was playing for my franchise, If it is for my franchise or for my country, I will give it all. I won't back down. At the end of the day we are all players and some of us are close friends, some of us are colleagues. We just brush it out and there's nothing personal. In the ODI World Cup, it finished once and for all," said Naveen in a chat with the Texas Super Kings.

Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq last met during the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match between India and Afghanistan in the Caribbean last month.
