There is a lot of speculation around India’s participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, slated to be held in Pakistan.

Notably, the Indian team hasn’t played on Pakistan since 2008 due to the political hostility between the two neighbouring countries.

While the cricket boards of both nations have stayed mum on this matter, reports are claiming that the Men in Blue will tour Pakistan for the ICC tournament.

According to a report by The Telegraph, India will begin their campaign against Bangladesh in Lahore on February 20, a day after the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi.

The reports further claimed that the schedule for the Champions Trophy has been released. The high-voltage India versus Pakistan clash is slated to take place on March 1 in Lahore.

Team India have been slotted with Pakistani n Group A, also featuring Bangladesh and New Zealand. Group B comprises Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan.

However, India’s participation in the tournament will depend on central government’s approval. The 2023 edition of Asia Cup, which was supposed take place in Pakistan entirely, was played in a hybrid model with India playing their matches in Sri Lanka as the government refused to permit the players' travel across the border.

The report also suggested that if India refuse to participate in the Champions Trophy, the PCB could consider alternate venues with the United Arab Emirates being a top pick.

As per the drafted schedule by the PCB, all of India’s games will be held in Lahore to minimize logistical challenges in the group stages and hope that some Indian fans will be able to visit Pakistan to support their teams.
