Sreesanth, former India pacer, has slammed young batter Riyan Parag for his rude comment that he’ll not watch the T20 World Cup, as he was not in the India squad. Sreesanth's comment was made live on-air moments after India beat South Africa in the T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.

Parag was one of the contenders to be picked for the T20 World Cup thanks to his IPL 2024 performance. He smashed 573 runs, the third-highest in the season and most by an uncapped batter, for Rajasthan Royals. However, the BCCI selection panel opted for experience over youth in this tournament and it proved to be right.

During the Beer Biceps podcast, Riyan Parag made a striking remark that went viral on social media. He said: "I don't want to watch cricket anymore, because I want to play in the World Cup."

During the final of the T20 World Cup, Sreesanth, who was part of the tournament's commentary crew for Star Sports, slammed Parag, telling him to first be "patriotic".

Some youngsters have also said that they will not watch the World Cup because they have not been selected. I would say that first, you should be patriotic, and then yes, you should be a cricket lover. But those who have selected the team, they should be supported with all their heart, mind, and passion," the T20 and ODI World Cup winner said.
