Haris Rauf, the Pakistani pacer, who was recently involved in a scuffle with a fan in the USA, has admitted that he was wrong in making the statement where he told the fan, ‘Yeh tera India nahi hain’, assuming that he was an Indian.

A video of Haris Rauf recently went viral in which he attacked a fan from a group, that he thought was Indians and was mocking him. He was heard shouting "Ye tera India nahi hai (This is not your India)” at the fan while passersby separated the two.

Haris had posted on X, clarifying his side of the incident and what sparked the violent reaction from him.

I decided to not bring this on social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation,” he wrote. “As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticize us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions,” Haris posted.

Pakistan cricket fraternity showed solidarity with the pacer and slammed the group of fans who were involved in the incident.  However, Haris Rauf was also criticized for shouting "Ye tera India nahi hai (This is not your India)," at the fan.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, ARY TV anchor Waseem Badami revealed on-air that he had spoken to Haris Rauf and said that the pacer had regretted his actions and his ‘Indian’ remark.

He shouldn't have made that 'Indian' statement. I did have a word with him and he is convinced that the fan was Pakistani and what he said was in the heat of the moment. I asked him and he said, 'Wasim bhai, he is from Pakistan. What I said was in the heat of the moment and I shouldn't have said that,” Badami said.
