WATCH: Virat Kohli says there was no ‘struggle’ or ‘sacrifice’ in his journey; explains what the two words mean to him

Kohli is currently plying his trade in the IPL 2024 season for RCB.

Virat Kohli | ScreengrabVirat Kohli’s achievement as a cricketer is surreal, to say the least. He has taken Indian cricket to greater heights with his batting and captaincy over the years.

Kohli has represented India in 113 Tests, 292 ODIs and 117 T20Is so far, amassing more than 26000 international runs with 80 centuries. He led India in 213 matches across formats and won 135 of them. His success rate as Indian captain is one of the best in the history of cricket.

In order to achieve it all, Kohli has worked hard immensely. However, the 35-year-old finds it wrong to use words like struggle and sacrifice to define his journey.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Virat Kohli can be seen talking to host Gaurav Kapoor during a talk show saying, "Honestly, sitting in my position, I cannot use words like struggle and sacrifice. For me there has been no struggle and no sacrifice. I am doing what I love."

Elaborating his point, the star batter added, "Struggle uski hoti hai jisko do waqt ki roti nahi milti hai (The one who doesn't get two square meals in a day, he's the one who's struggling). Aap apne hard work ko struggle bol ke usko glorify kar sakte ho, uspe cherry on top laga sakte ho, aapko koi nahi bol raha hai gym mein jaane ke liye, but you have to feed your family. (You can glorify your hard work by calling it a struggle, you can put a cherry on top, no one is asking you to go the gym, but you have to feed your family."

"I am just grateful, actually, I am in a privileged position as I am getting to do what I have always loved to do. I play a sport, which is my profession. If you really think about the real problems that people face in life, it's not done. You can't compare getting out in a Test series to someone who doesn't have a roof in his house," he further remarked.

Virat Kohli is currently the leading run scorer in the IPL 2024, with 361 runs to his name from seven innings, including one hundred and two half-centuries.

However, RCB are enduring a dismal campaign, languishing at the bottom of the table with six defeats and a solitary win under their belt.

Kohli will be next seen in action during RCB’s match against KKR at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 21).
