Michael Slater collapses in court after being denied bail on more than a dozen charges- Report

Slater is accused of more than a dozen charges including unlawful stalking, domestic violence.

Michael Slater | AAP: Joel Carrett Former Australia cricketer Michael Slater was denied bail by the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday on more than a dozen charges. Slater reportedly collapsed after hearing the judgment.

The television commentator and former batter is accused of domestic violence offenses as well as common assault and unlawful stalking of a woman.

As per police, has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, strangulation, unlawful stalking, entering a dwelling by break-in at night, and four counts of common assault.

Slater sat in the dock wearing prison greens during his appearance and collapsed to the floor when Magistrate Raelene Ellis denied his bail application and had to be helped to his feet by prison officers.

The court heard that Slater was filmed by a security camera as he allegedly yelled abuse from outside before breaking the kitchen window, climbing through it, and assaulting the victim. Police then said that Slater was taken to Nambour General Hospital to be treated for injuries from the broken glass.

The court heard Slater has mental health conditions that can result in "impulsive and reckless" behavior, ABC News reported.

He is due to appear in court again at the end of May.

Slater played 74 Test matches and 42 one-day internationals for Australia from 1993-2001.
