Nepal batter Dipendra Singh Airee on Saturday (April 13) etched his name in the history books as he became only the third batter to smash six sixes in an over in T20Is.
Dipendra achieved the rare feat during the ACC Premier Cup Group A game against Qatar in Al Amerat. He smashed six back-to-back sixes in the final over of Nepal’s innings, propelling his side to 210/7 in 20 overs.
With the remarkable effort, Dipendra joined Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard in an exclusive list. While Yuvraj was the first to do so in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2007 off Stuart Broad, Pollard joined him in 2021 by smashing Akila Dananjaya for six sixes.
Overall, the Nepal cricketer became the fifth batter to achieve this rare feat in international cricket, with Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa and USA's Jaskaran Malhotra doing it in ODIs earlier.
Kamran Khan was at the receiving end of Dipendra Singh Airee’s assault. Starting the final over at 28 off 15, Dipendra finished with 64 not out off just 21 balls, including 3 fours and 7 sixes.
Dipendra Singh Airee is no stranger to hitting six sixes. During Nepal's Hangzhou Asian Games T20I clash against Mongolia in September last year, he had slammed six consecutive sixes across two overs.
