'Don't test my patience...'- Shaheen Afridi’s Instagram story after losing Pakistan white-ball captaincy to Babar Azam

Shaheen Afridi captained Pakistan in just one T20i series, losing 1-4 to New Zealand.

Shaheen Afridi | GettyPakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has finally broken his silence after being removed as Pakistan T20I captain and posted an interesting story on his Instagram account. The PCB recently named Babar Azam as the captain of the white-ball teams.

Shaheen was named the T20I captain after Babar Azam had quit his leadership position in all three formats after the ICC World Cup 2023 debacle. PCB made wholesome changes in the administration as well, while naming Shan Masood as Test captain and Shaheen Afridi as T20I captain.

Under Shaheen, Pakistan incurred a 1-4 series loss in New Zealand and it was followed by a poor captaincy outing for Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League 2024, where the franchise picked up a solitary win in 10 matches.

The PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and other board members coerced Babar Azam into taking up the captaincy once again. Shaheen Afridi was left furious over the statement attributed to him on the PCB website.

In the press release put out by PCB on Babar's appointment, it was stated that Shaheen pledged to support the Pakistan batter saying: "Our aim is the same, to help Pakistan become the best team in the world."

Amidst the ongoing turmoil in Pakistan cricket, Shaheen Afridi posted a story on social media. It was a 29-second clip of a lion while the words read: “Never ever put me in a position where I have to show you how cruel and ruthless I can be. Don't test my patience. Because I might be the kindest and sweetest person you've ever met, but once I reach my limit, you'll see me do the things that no one thought I was capable of doing.”
