Yashasvi Jaiswal nominated for ICC Player of The Month award for February 2024

ICC announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2024.

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been nominated for the prestigious ICC Player of the Month award for February 2024 after his outstanding performance in the ongoing five-match Test series against England.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2024 on Monday, March 4. New Zealand's batting maestro Kane Williamson, Sri Lanka's opener Pathum Nissanka, and Jaiswal are in contention for the award.

Jaiswal's stellar performance helped Team India pull off wins in Vizag and Rajkot, as the hosts secured the ongoing Test series against England with the fifth game scheduled for March 7.

In the second Test, he showcased his batting prowess by scoring an impressive 209 runs in the first inning, which set a strong foundation for India's triumph.

His remarkable form continued in Rajkot, where he notched a stunning 214* runs, contributing significantly to India's resounding victory by a massive margin of 434 runs against England.

In the ongoing Test series, Jaiswal has so far amassed 655 runs in just 8 innings, showcasing his remarkable consistency with the bat. Now, he sets sights on surpassing the 700-run milestone in the fifth and final Test against England, starting on March 7 in Dharamshala.

In February, Jaiswal amassed a staggering 560 runs throughout the month, boasting an impressive average of 112 runs per inning. Notably, his scoring spree included an impressive tally of 20 sixes last month.

On the other hand, Kane Williamson and Pathum Nissanka both performed exceptionally well during the month of February. Williamson played a crucial role in New Zealand's historic Test series victory over South Africa, amassing a total of 403 runs in four innings at home.

Meanwhile, Nissanka made headlines by becoming the first Sri Lankan batsman to score a double century in the ODI series against Afghanistan.

His remarkable innings of 210* runs in the first ODI set the tone for Sri Lanka's dominance. Nissanka continued his fine form throughout the series, culminating in another century in the final match to impress one and all.
