Musheer Khan continued his rich vein of form in the ongoing U-19 World Cup as he slammed a stunning hundred to script India’s thumping 214-run victory over New Zealand in Bloemfontein on Tuesday (January 30).
Musheer, the younger brother of prolific Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan, came into this match on the back of a superb century (118) against Ireland and a steady knock of 73 versus USA.
The right-hander took his batting a notch higher in the Super Six match against New Zealand U-19, scoring 131 off 126 balls to propel India U-19 to 295/8 in 50 overs. His knock was studded with 13 fours and 3 sixes.
The highlight of his innings was the helicopter shot he executed for a gigantic six. The stroke reminded everyone of the legendary India captain MS Dhoni, who was a fine exponent of this shot in his heydays.
During the 46th over of India's innings, right-arm pacer Mason Clarke bowled a slower delivery into the slot and Musheer went for the full-blooded swing, depositing the ball over deep mid-wicket for half a dozen.
The 18-year-old held the pose after playing the shot as cameras captured his artistry perfectly.

Coming to the match, New Zealand’s innings folded for 81 in 28.1 overs during the chase. It was a listless batting performance as no one managed to touch the 20-run mark.
Saumy Pandey starred with the ball for India, returning with the figures of 4/19 in his 10 overs. Musheer Khan rounded off a great day with two wickets as well and won the Player-of-the-Match award.
