India cricketer Rishabh Pant urged Indians to give way to ambulances so that lives can be saved by just this simple act.
Pant himself was beneficiary of such a kind act by others when he was saved from his burning car when he met with an accident near Roorkee while on his way to Dehradun from Delhi in December 2022. He suffered injuries to his head, back, and feet including two cuts on his forehead and a ligament tear to his right knee and also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and suffered abrasion injuries to his back.
He underwent plastic surgery for his facial injuries, lacerations and abrasions, and surgery on his knee. He missed quite a lot of cricket as he rehabs to get back onto the field. It is expected that Rishabh Pant will make his return to cricket in IPL 2024 where he’ll captain the Delhi Capitals.
Meanwhile, on social media, Rishabh Pant replied to a video post on X showing how the drivers in the Netherlands made way for an ambulance. The drivers can be seen moving their cars sideways so that the speeding ambulance can continue without obstructions.
“I hope people in India do the same for ambulances. You never know how many lives can be saved by just giving way to an ambulance. We can take this initiative individually just by simply giving way to a ambulance and save lives. Thanks to people who are already doing it,” Rishabh Pant posted on the video.
Recalling the incident, Pant said that for a few moments, he felt that his ‘time in this world is up’.
“First time in my life, I felt like my time in this world was up. During the accident, I was aware of the wounds, but I was lucky as it could have been even more serious. I was feeling that someone saved me. I asked the doctor how long will it take for me to recover, and he said it would take 16-18 months. I knew I had to work hard to cut this recovery time,” Rishabh Pant said in a video on Star Sports.
