Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch | GettyAustralia’s Shaun Marsh joined Aaron Finch and called time on his cricket career after Melbourne Renegades failed to make their way through to the playoffs in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24.

Marsh’s latest outing came when the Renegades beat the Stars in the Melbourne derby at the Docklands Stadium on January 13, where the opener scored a match-winning 64. This was also Aaron Finch’s farewell game, as the former Australia captain bid goodbye to cricket.

“I have loved playing for the Renegades, I've met some great people over the last five years and the friendships I've made will last a lifetime. This playing group is special. They've been amazing to me, amazing teammates, and even better friends. Our members and fans are some of the most passionate out there, and I'm so thankful for their support over the journey,” Shaun Marsh told Melbourne Renegades website.

After a late start to this BBL due to injury, Marsh's form has been impressive with 181 runs at 45.25 and a strike-rate of 138.16. Despite playing only five games so far, he was made three of Renegades' six half-centuries.

Earlier this year, Marsh called it a day from FC cricket after last playing Test cricket back in January 2019 against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Wednesday’s match is the final game of the BBL 13 regular season, with the Thunder hosting the Renegades at Sydney Showground Stadium and this will be the last encounter of Shaun Marsh's glorious cricketing career.

Marsh came to the limelight after he became the leading run-scorer in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with 616 runs to his name. This led to him making his ODI and T20I debuts on the tour of the West Indies.

Marsh has 7050 runs at 37.90 and a strike-rate of 128.53 with 2477 of them coming for Punjab Kings in the IPL.

In 38 Tests, 73 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for Australia, Marsh scored 2265, 2773, and 255 runs respectively, with 13 hundreds and 25 fifties to his name.
