The Tamil Nadu-born spinner did not hesitate to say that he would not be successful against Javed Miandad and wishes there was a time machine to allow him to bowl at the former Pakistan batter.
"Miandad will win the battle against me. What a fabulous player. I wish there was a time machine," Ashwin said in an Instagram post, sharing the online poll.
Miandad is widely considered to be the best all-round batter produced by Pakistan. Making his debut in 1976 and scoring a century in his first Test, Miandad went on to make 8832 runs in 124 Tests with 23 centuries and a best of 280* at an average of 52.57.
He was prolific in ODIs as well, scoring 7381 runs in 233 matches with 8 centuries and a best of 119* at an average of 41.70.
Miandad also shouldered the Pakistan batting when they won the World Cup in 1992 in Australia.
