India has faced challenges in international cricket over the last decade, as they often fell short of winning the ICC trophies despite reaching finals and semi-finals. India’s trophy cabinet has remained empty since their victory in the ICC Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni in 2013.
The Indian cricket team suffered its latest setback on November 19 when Australia defeated the Men in Blue in the final of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India was bowled out for 240 runs, and then Australia successfully chased the target in 43 overs to win their sixth ODI World Cup title, shattering millions of dreams of lifting the ICC title on home soil.
As 2023 is nearing its end, former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has extended his best wishes to Team India on New Year, hoping to see them lift trophies in the coming year.
Venkatesh Prasad wrote on X: “It’s been a year of “What could have been” for Team India. Dominated the World Cup only to have a very bad day when it mattered in the finals. Lost the WTC finals as well. Travis Head was brilliant in both these games.”
He added, “Hope in the coming year, India starts winning Championships which has alluded them for more than a decade now. Wishing the best for Team India in the coming year and always.”
Now, Venkatesh Prasad’s post is going viral on social media as India suffered yet another crucial defeat in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Centurion on December 28.
