Bangalore-born leg spinner and a well-known face in the Indian Premier League (IPL), KC Cariappa, has filed a police complaint against his ex-girlfriend for alleged drug abuse and alcoholism.
Cariappa, who made his name through his stints with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL, shared a video reportedly showing his ex-girlfriend engaging in drug-related activities.
The cricketer claimed that he ended his relationship with his ex-girlfriend due to her serious drug addiction, alcoholism, and psychotic episodes. In 2022, Cariappa’s ex-girlfrihad filed an FIR against the cricketer, accusing him of pressuring her to undergo an abortion and even forcing her to take pills.
She further claimed that Cariappa had initially promised marriage, but after knowing her habits, he denied doing so. Cariappa, in his recent complaint to the Karnataka Police, accused his ex-girlfriend of attempting to defame him.
As per Sportskeeda report, Cariappa alleged that she threatened to commit suicide and blame him, dragging his parents into the matter. The leg spinner claimed that she vowed to tarnish his cricket career with false accusations if her demands were not met.
Now, Cariappa has sought police intervention and shared a video of the woman involved in drug-related activities. If the claims prove true, Karnataka Police will take action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) act.
Bengaluru's Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, confirmed that the investigations over this matter are underway, and all individuals connected to this case will be interrogated.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner stated: “We will examine the video content that has been released and where it has been released. Procedural implications will be examined. The source of the drugs or the details of the drug peddler is also a part of the investigation. Action will be taken based on evidence. We will examine the legal implications and accordingly proceed.”
