Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has reportedly requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) not to be included in the upcoming central contract list.

Tamim, the former ODI skipper, had earlier mentioned that he would decide on his international career after discussions with BCB President Nazmul Hassan. However, their previous meeting was cut short due to the BCB boss being busy with his election campaign.

Tamim, who last played for Bangladesh in the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand in September, chose not to play in the ODI World Cup 2023 due to disagreements with BCB high-ups and team management.

The former captain also didn't feature in the home Test series against New Zealand, and he was not part of the Bangladesh team’s ongoing tour of New Zealand.

However, Tamim is planning to return to competitive cricket with the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), starting on January 19.

BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters: “Tamim said he has his own plan and therefore he requested us not to include him in the central contract list. He (Tamim) is supposed to meet the BCB president after the national election to decide the next course of action. Till then we have to wait.”

Notably, the central contract list is likely to be finalized by the BCB by December 31. Before this, it will be submitted to the BCB president for approval.
