Former England captain and commentator Michael Vaughan made a bold statement that, in his view, only the Indian cricket team has the necessary "tools" to compete in Test cricket on Australian soil.
To be noted, India has won back-to-back Test series in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
Vaughan made this statement after the conclusion of the first Test at the Perth Stadium, where the Pat Cummins-led Australian cricket team recorded a convincing 360-run victory over Pakistan.
After being asked to chase the daunting target of 450, Pakistan could only manage 89 runs in 30.2 overs and suffer an embarrassing defeat against Australia in Perth. Saud Shakeel top-scored for his team in the second inning with 24 runs off 51 balls.
Meanwhile, Vaughan lauded Nathan Lyon for becoming the eighth bowler in Test cricket history to claim 500 wickets and made his claim that only Team India is capable of taking on Australia in Australia.
After the match, England's captain took to X to share his views on the outcome of the first Test between Australia and Pakistan in Perth. He said that Australian team was so clinical in the game.
Michael Vaughan wrote on X, “Aussies are so clinical.. they have everything covered for all conditions. Well done to @NathLyon421 on 500 Test wickets .. Incredible achievement .. Only @BCCI have the tools to compete here in Oz at this stage .. #AUSvsPAK.”
Notably, Australia will next face Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Stadium (MCG) on December 26.
